Arsenal Transfer News: Hector Bellerin Reacts to Barcelona Rumours

Hector Bellerin has insisted he is happy with Arsenal and is not considering a return to Barcelona.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t talkSPORT), the Catalan giants see former La Masia youth product Bellerin as a potential replacement for Dani Alves if he should leave the Camp Nou. 

Bellerin is committed to staying at the Emirates Stadium, though, and according to Sport, he told Goal:

I left Barca without looking back. I left focused on London and Arsenal and I am really happy there. 

I signed a new deal last year and there's still a lot in front of me. It's a club that's forming a great team, with players like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

My future is there and I am happy where I am. A lot of things can happen in football, but I am at Arsenal, giving my all for the club. I am not thinking of going anywhere else.

"

He also thanked Arsene Wenger for handing him a starting berth this season:

After last season and having started to play with the first team at Arsenal, my objective this year was to play as much as possible. And I have to give my thanks to the manager because he's given me a lot of minutes, allowing me to complete my objective.

It's true that on a club level things aren't going as we wanted and that's complicated things, but personally I am really happy with how things are going. I'm completing my objectives and now I have to aspire to more and want more—that's how things progress.

"

Further, the Spaniard is still hoping the Gunners can pip Leicester City to the Premier League title, per BT Sport Football:

Bellerin burst onto the scene last season as a replacement for the injured Mathieu Debuchy, and the 21-year-old displayed such good form he maintained his position in the team this year.

Indeed, he was named by Squawka as the 10th best player in the world under the age of 23, per Husmukh Kerai for their website.

As Squawka Football noted on Twitter, the youngster is known for his incredible pace:

His marauding runs forward have seen him rack up seven assists in all competitions this season, completing 46 take-ons and creating 19 chances in the Premier League, according to Squawka. He is also improving defensively, making 38 tackles, 51 interceptions and 90 clearances this season as well winning 30 aerial duels.

Football journalist Rafael Hernandez highlighted him as an impressive performer in Arsenal's 2-0 defeat to Barca in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 tie:

As noted by Mundo Deportivo (h/t talkSPORT), while Luis Enrique will hope to replace Alves if he moves on, the Barca manager is "keen on giving" Aleix Vidal the opportunity to do so before turning to the transfer market.

While Alves has considerable boots to fill, Vidal is a strong attacking full-back in his own right. Even if he does not work out, it seems as though Bellerin will rebuff the advances of his former club for the time being.
