Damian Swann Arrested: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Matt FitzgeraldMar 21, 2016

Former Georgia Bulldogs and current New Orleans Saints cornerback Damian Swann was arrested on March 18 in Athens, Georgia, for reckless driving.

Joel A. Erickson of the Advocate reported the news Monday, citing a police report. The Telegraph's Jason Butt reported Swann was going 100 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Per Butt, a maximum $1,000 fine and a jail term no greater than 12 months can be imposed if Swann is convicted of the misdemeanor charge. The Telegraph report also stated Swann was pulled over at 2:17 a.m. ET on March 18 and that he was released after posting a $2,000 bond at 4:13 a.m.

The 23-year-old had a passenger with him who was not arrested; Swann also had two handguns in his 2016 Jaguar XF S vehicle, per Butt, but he had concealed carry permits for them. The guns were turned over to the passenger once Swann was arrested.

There was no mention of alcohol in Butt’s report, which also stated Swann was cooperative when asked to exit his car.

Swann was a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft and appeared in seven games with two starts this past season, racking up 22 combined tackles and four passes defended. He suffered three concussions during his rookie campaign.
