Is It Time for Jeff Reed To Go Away?
I think it was best said, in the immortal words of Peyton Manning, "Idiot kicker!"
Prior to this season, Jeff Reed was considered Mr. Automatic. How many kickers would be able to kick in the swirling winds of Heinz Field?
Not many.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Reed has been an important member of the Steelers since joining the team in 2002.
He was an important player in both of the Steelers Super Bowl runs. But something is just not right with Jeff Reed.
Maybe it was his off season fight with a paper towel dispenser? Maybe it is his contract status?
Regardless of the reason, things with our "idiot kicker" are going to have to change.
Since kicking the winning field goal against the Tennessee Titans in the opening week of the season, Reed has missed three of five field goals.
Two came last week against the Chicago Bears. Some people may say that Reed missed because of the conditions of the field. I say, I don't want to hear that excuse.
If he can kick at Heinz Field, which between the amazing winds, and the late season field conditions, if he can kick there, he can kick anywhere.
The next point I would like to address, is Reeds ability at kicking off. Does anyone remember the last time Reed kicked off, and actually had a touch back?
Normally when Reed kicks off, the kick off returner fields the ball around the 10 yard line. That gives the defense at least 10-15 yards less to work with.
Really, what this boils down to is, that it is either time for Reed to get his head on straight, and start doing what he does, and that is make field goals, especially in the clutch.
If not, Piotr Czech needs to be brought back in. At least in the preseason, we had a touch back or two.
