Evans Out With Torn Labrum

Thursday, March 17

Mavs.com's Earl K. Sneed reported the news on Evans, who averaged 8.4 minutes in 30 games this season with 2.4 points on 54.2 percent shooting and 1.8 rebounds per contest.

Evans is best known for his supreme athleticism, which was on full display during his dazzling triumph at the 2012 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

The 28-year-old spent his first five seasons in the Association with the Utah Jazz before signing with Dallas as a free agent this past offseason.

He didn't manage to carve out a significant role in 2015-16, but Evans is entering a contract year next season and will only have a cap hit of a little over $1.2 million, per Spotrac.

With the versatility to play the 3 and the 4, Evans could establish himself as a more integral player moving forward. The Mavs lack elite athletic ability up front, with the likes of an aging Dirk Nowitzki the only significant big man who isn't a free agent this summer, so there's room for Evans to make an impact.
