Arsenal Transfer News: Henrikh Mkhitaryan Targeted, Latest on Isco, Top Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenMar 17, 2016

Arsenal are reportedly looking at Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a possible transfer target once the summer window opens. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are losing patience with midfielder Isco, a player who has been frequently linked with the Gunners.

According to Sportbild (h/t Sport Witness), Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will join the hunt for in-form Mkhitaryan, whose contract situation has opened the door for a move. The Armenia international only has one year left on his deal, so Dortmund face quite the battle to keep him at the Signal Iduna Park this summer.

The report places his value at roughly £22 million, but given his superb form―nine goals and 10 assists in the Bundesliga, per WhoScored.com―Die Schwarzgelben will likely hold out for a bigger fee.

He recently showed his deadly instincts with a great goal against Hannover, demonstrating the kind of confidence he's playing with right now:

Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has had a fantastic impact on the 27-year-old, who took some time settling in after joining the club from Shakhtar Donetsk. Tuchel has taken Mkhitaryan's biggest asset―his versatility―and turned it into a powerful weapon, urging him to drift all over the pitch and drive defenders mad.

Per Sport Witness, Liverpool have been frequently linked with the Armenian as well, and Bleacher Report UK's Jack Lusby rues the fact the Reds were never able to bring him to Anfield:

Mkhitaryan is an incredibly talented player, but one has to wonder whether Arsenal really need another attacking midfielder. The position is a strength for the Gunners, and Dortmund won't just hand their star over for a reasonable fee.

The Germans have become a top club in Europe in the last few years and have done a fantastic job keeping hold of their star players in the last two seasons. Unless Mkhitaryan is eager to leave the club this summer, the Gunners might find it difficult to strike a deal.

Another attacking midfielder who could be available is Real Madrid star Isco, who might be on his way out of the club, according to Alvaro de la Rosa of AS.

The Spain international has failed to take the next step in his development this season, and Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is reportedly open to moving him during the summer.

El Confidencial (h/t the Independent's Jack de Menezes) linked the 23-year-old with a move to the Emirates Stadium during the winter transfer window, and following these latest Spanish rumours, those links will surely surface again in the coming days.

Isco's talent has never been questioned, but he has failed to live up to his potential under new Real manager Zinedine Zidane and has been involved in a handful of incidents on the pitch. He got himself sent off in the Clasico against Barcelona, and his reaction after being substituted against Las Palmas showed just how frustrated he is. This fan shared video footage:

The former Malaga man has failed to establish himself as an automatic starter during his time in the Spanish capital, and he always appears to have one foot out of the door. The rumours are certainly growing louder, however, and unless things improve drastically in the coming weeks, don't be shocked if he finally leaves the club this summer.

If he does, he'll have plenty of suitors. Here's a look at what teams would be paying for:

Similar to Mkhitaryan, Arsenal don't seem to have any real need for his services, but given his young age and tremendous upside, you'd expect the Gunners to try their best to land him, regardless.

Meanwhile, TransferMarketWeb (h/t Daily Star's Alex Harris) claimed the Gunners are interested in Napoli's Allan Marques Loureiro, a 25-year-old defensive midfielder who has emerged as a key figure for the Partenopei this season.

His agent, Claudio Vagheggi, told Radio CRC (via Harris) his client could move to England unless he receives a better contract from his current club:

"

Could Allan go to England? Business is business, I’d see nothing wrong with that if all the sides were happy with the terms of the deal.

But the first thing I’d do would be go to see the club and see if the contract can be improved, because he doesn’t earn much.

He is an extraordinary player. He has some ups and downs, but his contribution is always important and he will make his mark in this final part of the season, because he has overcome the negative moment.

"

Allan has shown plenty of talent as a bruiser who can also have an impact further up the pitch, but the former Udinese man appears to have reached his peak with Napoli, and it's difficult to see him making the grade at the Emirates.

Finally, Chilean midfielder Marcelo Allende is still being monitored by Arsenal, per MailOnline's Simon Jones. The teenager spent two weeks on trial with the Gunners, and he could be a possible summer addition if he continues to impress.
