Antonio Allen to Texans: Latest Contract Details, Comments, Reaction
Free-agent safety Antonio Allen will sign with the Houston Texans, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported on Wednesday. The Texans would later announce the news.
Sources told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News that the deal for Allen is for one year.
Allen spent the first four years of his NFL career with the New York Jets, where he recorded 105 total tackles, 13 passes defended and one interception. However, he missed all of the 2015 season after injuring his Achilles in practice during the offseason.

Allen will depart for Houston just one day after linebacker and fellow Jets 2012 draftee Demario Davis signed a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN.com.
This Jets have also lost nose tackle Damon Harrison this offseason, who signed with the New York Giants. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, on Tuesday the Jets signed Steve McLendon, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers, in hopes that he will replace Harrison.
Allen brings some depth to the safety position in Houston after the Texans released Rahim Moore before free agency. Moore began the year as a starting free safety but was benched after Week 7. His replacement, Andre Hal, recorded four interceptions in 11 starts alongside Quintin Demps.
Demps is currently a free agent, but the Texans have expressed interest in bringing him back, per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
The Texans pass defense doesn't need much of a change. Then again, with defensive end J.J. Watt bearing down on quarterbacks, the opposing offense doesn't usually get the chance to get comfortable.
Regardless, Houston had the third-best pass defense last season, and Allen could help contribute if he proves that his Achilles is good to go. He could also see a more advanced role if Demps goes elsewhere or the injury bug bites the Texans.
