Hatcher Visiting Saints

Tuesday, March 15

Citing sources, Kristian Garic of WWL 870AM reported Hatcher was visiting the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday evening.

The 33-year-old Hatcher was released by the Washington Redskins on March 7 after recording just two sacks and 20 total tackles in 15 appearances last season, but he could be a solid buy-low candidate for a Saints team in dire need of pass-rushing depth.

New Orleans finished last season ranked tied for 25th with 31 total sacks, and the team's inability to consistently generate pressure on the quarterback placed a heavy burden on a secondary that ranked 31st in opponents' average passing yards per game (284.0).

Hatcher wouldn't be a game-changer by any means, but he's just two seasons removed from racking up 11.0 sacks with the Dallas Cowboys and has never appeared in fewer than 13 games over the course of a single campaign.

The 10-year veteran told reporters he was contemplating retirement after the Redskins were bounced from the postseason, according to the Washington Post's Master Tesfatsion, but he can still make a decent impact as a rotational rusher off the edge.
