Manuel Pellegrini's side carried a 3-1 advantage from the first leg, meaning a 2-0 defeat at home to the Ukrainians would not be devastating enough to halt their progress.
However, City didn't get off to the brightest of starts, as Vincent Kompany limped off after five minutes with an injury that seems certain to keep him out of the upcoming Manchester derby:
