Barcelona Stars Reportedly Due Huge Bonus for Treble Success
Barcelona’s playing staff are reportedly still owed bonus money after their treble success last season and will be in line for a significant windfall should they secure another trio of major trophies in the months to come.
According to Luis F. Rojo of Marca, the squad will share €25 million between them at the end of the 2015-16 campaign should the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League titles remain at the Camp Nou for another season. However, it’s also suggested the amount of success this team is having is becoming rather costly for the Blaugrana:
"In fact, the club had only budgeted for winning La Liga, around €25 million, half the amount the players would receive for winning the treble.
Everything else is an additional cost, the €30 million still owed from winning last year's treble and the Club World Cup, plus the remaining €25 million should the team go onto win the treble again this season.

Rojo goes on to claim that this piling up of potential bonuses could come at a “tough time” for the Catalan giants, with “the club desperately looking for ways to bring in additional revenue to reduce its spiralling debt.”
In 2015 alone, Barcelona won five trophies in total, with only the Spanish Super Cup escaping their clutches. This term, they are eight points clear in La Liga, in the final of the Copa and well placed to make it into the Champions League final once again.
Additionally, this is a team that is showing no signs of losing momentum or hunger, as they continue to sweep opponents aside with a swashbuckling style of attacking football. As we can see here, courtesy of ESPN Stats & Info, they are on an incredible run of form currently:
While the payouts for winning so many competitions may be substantial, you can bet Barcelona earn plenty from their success, too. As reported by Hamish Mackay of the Daily Mirror, the Blaugrana are said to have pocketed a whopping £44.6 million in total from their 2014-15 Champions League campaign alone.
Winning these kinds of competitions has other lucrative perks, too. Not only does it enrich the Barcelona brand in all corners of the planet, but it entices the world’s finest footballers to the club, which, in turn, has its own massive benefits.

That much has been evident in the form of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, who have been the trio of forwards behind the club's remarkable recent form. After linking up at the point of the attack last term, they each played a vital role in Barca’s treble success, and as Squawka Football points to here, they’re still at it this season:
While it may be costly for the club, an institution as reputable as Barca would have surely done the appropriate calculations in terms of bonuses, especially when you consider the immense talent they have at their disposal. The players will be well compensated if they secure similar success once again, although that’d be offset by some other aforementioned benefits.
Winning trophies should never be dressed up as a potential negative either; it’s what the game is all about, after all. So while Barca may have to continue forking out significant amounts to this remarkable group of players, provided they continue to conjure magnificent football and create brilliant memories, player bonuses are unlikely to be at the forefront of many fans’ minds.
