Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jorginho Rumours

Manchester United have reportedly joined the list of Premier League clubs looking to prise Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain away from Arsenal this summer. Plus, the agent of Napoli's Jorginho has said Real Madrid are hunting his client's services.

TalkSPORT's Warren Haughton reported on Monday the Gunners have made no moves to extend Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract, which expires in June 2018, and United are among the clubs interested in his signature.

It's also mentioned the Red Devils were among the Premier League suitors hoping to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain from Southampton in 2011 prior to his £15 million switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Bleacher Report's Dean Jones recently reported the England utility player is keen to remain in north London, however, meaning Louis van Gaal's side may find it difficult to tempt their target away from his current setting:

Oxlade-Chamberlain has once again struggled to crack manager Arsene Wenger's starting XI this season, registering just nine Premier League starts and playing the full 90 minutes on just four occasions across all competitions.

Ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown judged it as "tricky" when asked in a Daily Mail Q&A session whether there would be a summer exodus at Arsenal following a disappointing campaign:

The idea of selling any of his players, irrespective of how prominent they are in his squad, to a direct rival is undoubtedly one Wenger isn't a fan of, meaning the playmaker would likely have to push for a transfer himself.

Liverpool and Manchester City, the latter of whom will appoint Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola as manager at the end of this season, are reported to be the other English powerhouses looking into Oxlade-Chamberlain's situation.

Meanwhile, the agent of Napoli anchor Jorginho, Joao Santos, told Radio Kiss Real Madrid have shown a liking for the player and confirmed Arsenal are also interested (h/t Daily Mail's Elliott Bretland):

Arsenal recruited midfielder Mohamed Elneny in January, but with the aged trio of Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini all set to leave the Emirates, engine-room reinforcements will be needed.

Jorginho has been a valuable conduit for Napoli in the middle of the park this season, and WhoScored.com recently provided evidence to his elite standing as a pass-master who could fit in under Wenger:

The 24-year-old moved to Italy from his native Brazil at a young age and holds an Italian passport, and any involvement with the Azzurri at Euro 2016 could hike up Napoli's asking price, pending any success at the tournament.

News of Real Madrid potentially entering the hunt for Jorginho won't go down well at the Emirates, however, as Wenger's Arsenal may struggle to pose as alluring a prospect alongside Los Blancos.
