WWE NXT: Full Preview, Match Card and More for March 16

The Doctor Chris MuellerMar 15, 2016

Welcome to Bleacher Report's preview for this week's episode of WWE NXT, where we'll take a spoiler-free look at what's in store for the developmental brand's upcoming episode.

NXT TakeOver: Dallas will take place on April 1, and the card is almost complete, so we can expect a lot of time between now and then to be focused on building feuds for the event.

Let's take a look at what's in store for this week's show.

The Tag Teams

The Hype Bros, Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley, will be in action this week against Angelo Dawkins and one of NXT's newest talents, Kenneth Crawford.

Crawford, a native of Chicago, was signed in April of last year as part of a new class of 11 recruits. He is only 24 years old but has already seen his fair share of action as part of the United States Marine Corps.

Interviewed by Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald last year, Crawford vowed to increase his level of dedication upon joining the WWE brand: "It’s surreal. I don’t think it’s really hit me, yet, but I know for a fact that the amount of effort that I’ve put in my life to this point will multiply twofold here. I’m ready for everything it has to offer."

It will be interesting to see how this rookie performs in his first televised match. Being a Marine is physically demanding, but pro wrestling is unlike anything else when it comes to training.

While it's unlikely he will win his first bout, this is a great opportunity for Crawford to make a good impression with the right people backstage.

The Men

Former TNA Standout Jesse Sorensen will be in action this week against Tommaso Ciampa in the only singles match featuring the men's division.

Neither one of these Superstars has been pushed hard by the company, so this is a chance for both men to prove to management that they are worth the effort.

Both of them have made names for themselves outside of WWE but have been mostly relegated to the role of putting others over.

With Sami Zayn heading to the main roster and a few others likely following in his footsteps, NXT desperately needs to build new stars. Whoever wins this match could be pushed in the near future.

The Women

Two matches featuring the women's division will take place this week. The first will see Emma, accompanied by Dana Brooke, taking on Deonna Purrazzo.

For someone who isn't signed to a contract yet, Purrazzo has been featured quite a bit over the last few months.

She has the skills to make her opponents look good, which makes her a valuable asset. It seems as if she is filling the role once occupied by Leva "Blue Pants" Bates.

With Brooke by her side, Emma has the clear advantage. The Australian Diva has been gaining momentum over the past few months, so it's just a matter of time before she finds herself challenging for the NXT Women's Championship again.

The main event for Wednesday's show will feature Bayley and Asuka teaming up to take on Nia Jax and Eva Marie.

Despite her poor performance when she was first signed, Marie has made a lot of progress over the past year. She took it upon herself to seek out extra training from Brian Kendrick, and it has paid off.

Pairing her up with Jax seemed like an odd booking decision at first, but they have turned into a formidable duo.

However, Bayley and Asuka represent the cream of the crop in NXT, so defeating them will be no easy feat. Regardless of who wins, this should be an entertaining contest to cap off the night.
