Titus O'Neil Comments on Suspension, Future in WWE

Mike ChiariMar 10, 2016

One month after getting suspended by WWE for an incident involving Chairman Vince McMahon, Titus O'Neil spoke out about his ban and his future with the company.

As reported by Chris Perez of the New York Post, the 38-year-old Superstar was suspended 60 days for grabbing McMahon's arm at the conclusion of Daniel Bryan's retirement ceremony on an episode of Raw. The original punishment was 90 days, but it was subsequently lessened.

O'Neil acknowledged the suspension in an interview with Justin Sarachik of Rapzilla.com published Wednesday and expressed a desire to move past it:

"

I always believe in all things there's always positives in it. I made a mistake at an inopportune time. Regardless if it was too harsh or overreacting or whatever people have deemed it, it all stems from my mistake. Whether I agree with it or not, I am owning it. I'm doing what I'd normally do in any other situation.

"

Shortly after the suspension, O'Neil's friend and former WWE Superstar Batista suggested that he quite the company:

According to Sarachik, however, the former Florida Gators football star does not intend to walk away from WWE:

"

They're right. I can go and coach, I can do a lot of stuff, but at the end of the day, I've never quit on anything in my entire life.

[...]

I don't have a quit button in me. I've been homeless, I've been beaten, I've been lied to, I've been persecuted more ways than one and I'm still here. There's nothing in this world that can stop me from what God has called me to do.

"

O'Neil is scheduled to be reinstated shortly after WrestleMania 32 from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on April 3.

While he has never won a singles championship in WWE, the former tag team champion is among the company's most philanthropic Superstars, and he gained acclaim for being awarded the MEGA Celebrity Dad of the Year honor in 2015.

O'Neil is a quality midcard player with the potential to achieve even more because of his physique and charisma, but it is unclear if he will have that opportunity upon his return.

Even though it is possible that his punishment could carry over to the on-screen product in the form of being forced to lose matches on a regular basis, it is apparent that O'Neil will do everything in his power to get back on track upon his return.
