While it was a packed day of tennis with 42 matches, there weren't many close matches. Only eight lasted more than two sets.
There was one upset though in women's doubles. No. 7 Garbine Muguruza and Carla Suarez Navarro lost in straight sets to Julia Goerges and Karolina Pliskova. The other three ranked doubles pairs won their matches in straight sets.
On the singles front, there was not one ranked player on both the men's and women's side who played on Thursday. For the women's bracket, that will change on Friday.
Friday's play will include the likes of women's No. 1 Serena Williams, No. 5 Simona Halep and No. 8 Petra Kvitova as they get their tournaments underway against some unlucky opponents. On the men's side, there will be big names like Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka in play, but they will do so in the doubles competition.
In total, 41 more matches will be played out on Friday with the action beginning bright and early once again at 11 a.m. ET.
