NRL Player Fa'amanu Brown Tries to Charge Phone in Microwave, It Doesn't Work
Here's a lesson in why you shouldn't do something simply because you saw it on the internet once.
Cronulla Sharks five-eighth Fa'amanu Brown faced a dilemma we've all been plagued by: a low cellphone battery and a shortage of chargers, reports the Daily Mail.
The 21-year-old was fighting over the only charger with his team-mate Valentine Holmes when Nu had a brainwave.
On the advice of a "fully legit" Facebook video, he thought he could get away with giving his mobile a new lease on life with a quick spell in the microwave. You know how this story ends.
"I only put it in the microwave for one second and it caught on fire,'' he said. "I couldn't believe it, I was devastated."
He said the phone "still worked but it didn't have any service," though its odour gave it away.
"It stunk of smoke but I thought that nothing would [have] happened seeing as though it was in for such a short space of time," he said.
It all ended well for Brown, though, when the Apple store replaced his phone. However, he might have been economical with the truth.
"I didn't tell them I put it in the microwave," he said. "I just showed them that it had no service."
He ought to have done more research.
