Benfica travelled to Russia for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie with Zenit Saint Petersburg on Wednesday looking to defend the 1-0 lead they earned in the first leg on February 16.

The game appeared to be heading for extra time before Nicolas Gaitan snatched a crucial away goal for the Portuguese side, nodding home the rebound after Raul Jimenez's stunning long-range effort was pushed onto the crossbar.

Talisca gave the visitors even more insurance, striking home a late goal in injury time to put the Russian side to the sword.
