An ostrich is the star of the show in a viral video by Oleksiy Mishchenko, who is training with some friends to take part in the Cape Argus Tour in South Africa.
Mishchenko and two other cyclists were on a 130-kilometer training race to the Cape of Good Hope when the ostrich decided to join in.
He wrote on YouTube:
"It was a little scary at first, but then I thought I [was] gonna [fall] off my bike from laughter. The ostrich didn't have any problem to keep up at 50km/h and apparently they do 70km/h with no sweat.
Luckily the creature decided to leave us alone, as we were running out of road. The Cape of Good Hope is a dead end way.
My guess [is] he wanted to show off in front of his girlfriend, I bet she was very impressed!
"
Curious about ostriches? According to animalfactguide.com, the ostrich is the world's largest and heaviest bird (eight feet tall, up to 320 lbs). And as noted above, they can sprint as fast as 43 mph.
