Jonathan Dwyer and Georgia Tech Run Past North Carloina In The Rain
Georgia Tech (3-1) finally got what we've all expected from Junior running back Jonathan Dwyer. "The Diesel" ran for 158 yards on 19 carries and led the Yellow Jackets to a 24-7 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels on a rainy saturday afternoon at Grant Field in Atlanta. Georgia Tech's offensive line still looks very mediocre and as conference play continues on October 10th at Florida State we'll need more from those guys if we want Nesbitt and Dwyer to put more points on the score board. Head coach, Paul Johnson, did not hesitate benching kicker Scott Blair after he missed two field goals, not to mention all the kick offs that he's kicked out of bounds. Johnson summed it up as "ridiculous!" Georgia Tech travels to Mississippi State on Saturday for what should be an interesting game after Mississippi State almost upset #7 LSU in Starkville on Saturday.
Georgia (3-1) looked about as good as I expected and needed a game winning field goal to beat Arizona State in the rain Saturday night in Athens. Georgia still remains one of the least impressive teams in the SEC and with LSU this week followed up by a road trip to Tennessee I'm looking forward to the silence from the Bulldog Nation.
I'm not a fan of the college football polls and I don't like the BCS system but it is what is and all we can doing is shake our heads on Sunday afternoons. Georgia Tech was ranked #14 and lost to an unranked Miami team and fell out of the top 25. That's proof that there's no respect for the ACC in college football. Virginia Tech exposed Miami on Saturday and hopefully we won't have to hear how "Miami's back" anymore. South Carolina could easily be undefeated and after beating Ole Miss we should see some change in the top 10. California was just embarrassed and should drop out of the top 20 for that. Penn State loses and looked terrible so they should be gone from the top 10, maybe the top 15. Georgia should drop a few spots even with the win against Arizona State and if fair is fair look for Georgia Tech to be ranked at worst # 20. It should be interesting this week with Georgia Tech traveling to play Mississippi State who should have beaten LSU, while Georgia hosts LSU in what should be the Bulldogs biggest test thus far.
GO YELLOW JACKETS and TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!
