Fan Who Put £20 on Leicester City to Win the League Cashes out for £29,000

One opportunistic Leicester City fan has cashed out for an incredible £29,000 after placing a £20 on his team to win the Premier League at the beginning of the season.

John Pryke made the bet with favourable odds of 5,000-1 last summer, and despite being on course for a grand sum of £100,000, he decided to accept Ladbrokes' lucrative offer with the Foxes three points clear with 10 games to go ahead of Saturday's fixtures.

He told the Press Association (h/t the Mirror):

Teams have worked out how to play against us and the smaller teams will just start parking the bus.

I'd actually have preferred our run-in to be against the bigger teams as we know how to beat them.

It's been a crazy season, I'd be silly not to take my money and run.

"

But the 59-year-old's winnings are unlikely to end there, as he also backed Leicester to finish in the top four at 400-1. Not bad.
