England Announce Turkey, Australia and Portugal Friendlies Ahead of Euro 2016

The Football Association has announced England will play three warm-up matches ahead of UEFA Euro 2016, with Turkey, Australia and Portugal confirmed as the opponents for friendlies in May and June.

The FA shared full details via their official Twitter feed:

The Three Lions will play Turkey at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, May 22, followed by a game against Australia at Sunderland's Stadium of Light on Friday, May 27.

The third friendly will take place at Wembley Stadium on Thursday, June 2, as England welcome Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal to London.

The mini-tour is a chance for England fans to see the team in the north west and north east ahead of this summer's European Championship in France.

John Cross of the Mirror said the "roadshow" is a great idea from the governing body:

The game against Portugal at Wembley could give English fans the chance to once again see Ronaldo play on English soil.

All three opponents will pose manager Roy Hodgson different tactical problems as he looks to fine-tune his squad ahead of the Euro 2016.

As always, the expectations of the Three Lions will be huge in the summer, and it'll be hoped the three warm-up games spring England into top form.
