Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Everyone's favorite throwback tag team will be in action this week when The Vaudevillains take on Tucker Knight and Hugo Knox.
This will be one of the first times the NXT Universe gets to see Knox on television. The former pro soccer player has been with the developmental system since 2014 and is finally getting his shot in front of the camera.
Knight is also new to the scene, so this will be a test for the two rookies to see how they stack up against two established talents like Aiden English and Simon Gotch.
The most likely outcome here is a Vaudevillans victory. Knox and Knight don't need the win as much as they need the exposure, but if they did somehow manage to pick up the victory, it would be a good sign for their futures.
The Women
Former TNA Knockout Brittany, working under the name Santana Garrett, is back with the NXT brand this week with a match against Australian bombshell Emma.
Garrett is not signed to a deal but has made three appearances over the past few months, which is a good sign for the indy star. Impressing the right people, even in a loss, could get her a contract down the line.
There's no point in guessing who is going to win between a signed and unsigned talent. This is all about making Emma look good as she waits for her chance to take the Women's Championship from Bayley.
Emma is a tremendous talent who has found her groove as a heel. It's just too bad it took her five years to find a character that works.
The Men
The first of two singles match will see Elias Samson attempt to continue his recent winning streak against Steve Cutler.
Samson was a jobber until a few months ago, so this push is a big deal for him. He has been with the company since 2014, so he needs to take full advantage of the opportunity presented to him.
This bout should be entertaining, but the main event is what will get people talking. Neville will return to NXT to battle the current champion, Finn Balor.
The last time we saw these two wrestle each other, they tore the house down, so we should expect nothing less from this encounter.
Getting to see something like this on a regular weekly episode of NXT is quite a treat for fans. Both men put everything they have into every match, which means there will be plenty of highlight-reel moments.
You would think a stellar main event like Balor vs. Neville would be enough, but there is even more to be excited about.
Austin Aries will finally make his debut with the NXT brand this week. Everyone has been talking about Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles for the past few weeks, but Aries' signing is just as important.
The former TNA world champion is someone who can bring a lot to the developmental system, but hopefully he won't stop there. With any luck, he will be on the main roster mixing it up before the end of the year.
With a big debut and an equally big main event, Wednesday's episode of NXT has a lot to get excited about. What are you looking forward to seeing on this week's show?
