Now this is taking the phrase "Keep your eye on the puck" a little too literally.
Late in the third period of Saturday's game against the Dallas Stars, the New York Rangers' Dan Girardi went from defenseman to pirate in the blink of an eye.
When the Stars' Jamie Oleksiak tried to send a pass along the boards to a teammate, the puck took a crazy bounce and somehow ended up lodged behind Girardi's visor. Play was stopped so the veteran defenseman could pull the puck out. Given the unusual circumstances, he couldn't help but laugh at what had just happened.
