He was one of the few members on San Francisco's defensive line to produce in 2015. Only Ahmad Brooks, Aaron Lynch and NaVorro Bowman had more sacks than Dial, and they are linebackers.
The 25-year-old was able to produce in a 49ers unit ranked 29th in the NFL last season. He not only contributed on defense, but also on special teams, blocking two field goals in 2015.
General manager Trent Baalke noticed Dial's output on the line and rewarded him. The GM spoke about San Francisco's decision to re-sign the defensive tackle, per the team's official website:
"Throughout his first three seasons in the NFL, Quinton has shown consistent development and has become a key contributor in our defense. We have certainly seen his positive impact on the field and in our locker room... We are pleased to extend the contract of young players like Quinton and are excited to see him continue his career with the 49ers.
"
Dial's positivity that Baalke mentioned is evident on his Twitter account as well, as he regularly posts motivational quotes:

Ensuring Dial's future with the team allows the 49ers to focus on other aspects of the roster with the NFL draft approaching in April. According to NFL.com's Lance Zierlein, some of the 49ers' top needs include quarterback, inside linebacker, offensive tackle and wide receiver.
He isn't the kind of defensive tackle who will dominate the trenches, but Dial could be a solid role player in the future if the 49ers manage to build up their defense.
