Terence Crawford vs. Hank Lundy: Live Round-by-Round Results and Highlights
Terence Crawford dropped Hank Lundy in Round 5 and closed out the show seconds later to score a knockout victory and retain his WBO Junior Welterweight Championship on Saturday night at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.
Crawford (28-0, 20 KO) was the sharper puncher of the two, using his jab to help settle down the action after a dicey first round that saw him eat a few big shots from his game challenger.
Lundy (26-6-1, 13 KO) was unable to close the distance once Crawford began boxing at range, and he was hurt by a big left hand midway through the fifth and dropped shortly after. He beat the count but didn’t have his legs under him, swallowing big shots in the corner and prompting the stoppage.
In the co-feature, rising Puerto Rican prospect Felix Verdejo remained undefeated with a workmanlike decision over previously-unbeaten William Silva.
Verdejo (20-0, 14 KO) outworked his foe, who seemed more concerned with survival than winning the fight, taking the verdict by scores of 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91 in a fairly lackluster bout.
