Hickson Reportedly Clears Waivers

Sunday, Feb. 21

Marc Stein of ESPN.com, citing league sources, reported Hickson went unclaimed and is free to sign with any team.

Hickson Has Had Minimal Impact During 2015-16 Season

Hickson averaged 6.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest in 20 games with the Nuggets this season.

He has been a part of postseason play just once in his career, in his second NBA season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played 11 games and averaged 3.5 points with 0.8 rebounds in 7.2 minutes per contest.

Hickson has only appeared in three games since Dec. 8, but when he's seen the floor this year, he's played well, scoring in double figures seven times—including a season-high 19 points and 13 rebounds on Nov. 9 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

In those three games since early December, he's played a combined 12 minutes, 56 seconds.

Should a playoff team take a flier on Hickson, it would get a capable inside scorer and tenacious rebounder. It was just three seasons ago that he averaged a double-double in Portland at 12.7 points and 10.4 rebounds in 80 games.

Despite his minimal production, Hickson can be a valuable asset for a team that is looking to add one or two more pieces for a deep playoff run.
