Ryback, Kane, Big Show vs. Wyatt Family Announced for WWE Fastlane 2016 PPV
WWE announced Tuesday that the Wyatt Family (with Bray Wyatt in its corner) will face off against Ryback, Kane and Big Show at Fastlane on Sunday, per WWE.com's Bobby Melok.
With the addition of this six-man tag match, five bouts are scheduled for the event in addition to the two-out-of-three falls match between Alberto Del Rio and Kalisto for the United States Championship on the pre-show.
WWE set the wheels in motion for this match Monday night on Raw. Braun Strowman was originally set to face Big Show, but the remaining Wyatt Family members interfered, and chaos erupted:
Some fans are bound to be underwhelmed by Tuesday's announcement. Big Show, Ryback and Kane are stuck in a kind of midcard purgatory, while the Wyatt Family has never built any sustained momentum. Bleacher Report's Mike Chiari is particularly frustrated with how the company has handled Bray Wyatt and his flock:
Of course, this match is likely a means by which to build up Wyatt and the other members for WrestleMania.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Marc Middleton of WrestlingInc.com), WWE plans on making Strowman look strong at WrestleMania 32 with an eye toward having him feud with Roman Reigns and then Brock Lesnar.
Especially with an injury-depleted roster, Wyatt is going to figure heavily in to WrestleMania, with most signs pointing to a clash with Lesnar. The Wyatt Family attacked Lesnar and Reigns back on the Jan. 18 episode of Raw before the Royal Rumble:
Then, at the Rumble, Strowman, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan all conspired to eliminate Lesnar from the 30-man Battle Royal after the Beast had previously dumped each of them over the top rope. WWE left the story open to a certain extent, as Lesnar never truly got his revenge.
Even if WWE doesn't envision a match between Lesnar and Wyatt at WrestleMania, something big will be in store for The Eater of Worlds. The company's plans will almost certainly be revealed at Fastlane.
