Jack Swagger and the Top WWE Superstars Who Deserve Bigger Roles

The Doctor Chris MuellerFeb 11, 2016

You would think with so many top stars out with injuries, WWE would be putting every resource at its disposal to work, but a lot of useful talents are still being wasted.

With Seth Rollins, John Cena, Randy Orton, Cesaro and Tyson Kidd on the shelf, Superstars who have been unnecessarily sidelined have a chance to show management how valuable they can be.

There are plenty of ways to use guys who might not cut it as main event stars—whether it's beefing up the tag team division or creating new feuds we haven't seen before.

If someone is employed by WWE, the understanding is that he has some value to offer, so keeping so many people out of the spotlight makes no sense.

This slideshow will look at several WWE Superstars who aren't being used to their fullest potential and what they could contribute. This is not a ranked list, so don't put too much thought into the order.

Los Matadores

1 of 8

Outside a few appearances on Main Event and Superstars, Los Matadores have been completely forgotten by management.

Their gimmick might not be marketable anymore, but there is no denying the talents of Edwin and Orlando Colon.

They work well as a tag team and use exciting offense that gets the crowd on their feet. If they drop the matador gimmick and focus on producing solid matches, they can help the tag team division return to its former glory.

Putting them in the ring with a duo like The Lucha Dragons would create some epic encounters, but a better way to use them might be to have them form a stable with Sin Cara and Kalisto.

WWE is always looking for ways to appeal to the Hispanic market, and these four men could be the key to bringing in that demographic.

Big Show

2 of 8

What's the point of having a legitimate giant on the roster if he is constantly being portrayed as past his prime or being used as a punching bag for Brock Lesnar?

Andre the Giant was never used as a steppingstone for anyone. Even when he put over Hulk Hogan, people still looked at Andre as nearly unstoppable.

Many fans have soured on Big Show over the years, but that is only because he hasn't been used in a way that takes full advantage of his best attributes.

Giving Big Show a character makeover is the only way to fix him. He needs to take some time off and return with a new attitude. Then, WWE needs to give him a monster push and book him as the unstoppable force he was when he first arrived in WCW.

Kane

3 of 8

Ever since The Undertaker went on hiatus, Kane has been used sparingly and has been booked to look like a chump.

How are fans supposed to believe he is a monster when he can't even score a win on his own? The way he has been used over the past five years does not line up with how talented he is.

For someone his size, Kane is capable of doing some amazing things. He is more agile than he looks and stronger than people realize.

The only way to save Kane is to bring him back to his roots. The mask isn't enough. He needs to dominate everyone who crosses his path, so when it's finally time for him to put someone over, it has meaning.

He might not be the best candidate for a run with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but he can definitely make the midcard title scene a lot more interesting if he is used properly.

Damien Sandow

4 of 8

Damien Sandow has taken every gimmick he has ever been given and turned it into pure gold, but for some reason, management keeps taking him out of the rotation.

When he won the Money in the Bank match, it seemed like Sandow was destined to be WWE's next great heel. The fans responded well to him, and he proved he could hang with top stars such as John Cena in the ring.

A lot of guys lose their push because their mic skills are lacking, but that was never the case with Sandow. He can make you love him or hate him with a few well-crafted sentences.

Sandow could be great in a tag team, but he would be better suited in a program for the WWE Intercontinental or United States Championship.

All Vince McMahon has to do is hand Sandow a mic and wait for the magic to happen. It's that simple.

Darren Young

5 of 8

Can anyone explain why The Prime Time Players are no longer a team? There was no breakup storyline and no explanation given for why they are no longer together.

Darren Young is a great ambassador for WWE, but he is also a talented competitor who has a lot to contribute in the ring.

His athleticism is off the charts, and he is naturally charismatic. He might not be as good on the mic as Titus O'Neil is, but he is good enough to be given more to do.

Young is best suited for tag team wrestling. Putting him with someone who is also being wasted would allow both men to thrive and help make the division look like it has more than three teams.

The Ascension

6 of 8

Remember when Konnor and Viktor were supposed to be Stardust's henchmen? It seems like forever since they appeared together.

The Ascension might be a cheap knockoff of past tag teams, but who cares? A lot of wrestlers borrow from other people's gimmicks to form their own.

Konnor and Viktor have a lot to offer. They were the top team in NXT for a year, and they had some great matches during their reign with the NXT Tag Team Championship.

The Cosmic Wasteland could have been a decent stable, but WWE has shown little to no faith in the group by never using them consistently.

Stardust is barely doing anything these days, so WWE should try to get this group over again. Maybe it's time to turn them babyface and see how they do.

Tyler Breeze

7 of 8

Just as quickly as Tyler Breeze was called up to the main roster, his push was stalled, and he fell into obscurity. It's baffling.

Breeze is incredibly talented in the ring, good on the mic and has a unique gimmick that makes him one of the most annoying heels on the roster.

It would be pointless to put him back in NXT since there are too many new faces in the developmental system that would overshadow him.

The Miz isn't being used to his fullest potential these days, so the best option is to pair these two egomaniacs up to form a tag team.

Their gimmicks complement each other, and the tag team division could benefit from having a new duo to form some fresh feuds with established teams such as The Usos.

Natalya

8 of 8

It's great to see Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch get so much attention after making NXT's women's division the best in the business, but it shouldn't come at the expense of other talented women.

Natalya is one of the most technically proficient wrestlers on the roster, but she has been used less than a parka in Hawaii.

She should be in the hunt for the title just as much as any of the other women in the company, and the fact that she isn't shows a severe lack of logic on the part of the Creative.

As fun as it is to see Lynch, Banks and Charlotte wrestle one another over and over, there needs to be some variety to keep the Divas division from becoming repetitive. Natalya is a veteran who can help the younger Divas establish themselves while putting on great matches.

The 10 men and women on this list deserve a chance to show the world what they are capable of, but they aren't the only ones being ignored. Who do you think deserves a new push?
