Ian Rapoport of NFL Network first reported the deal was in place, while Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reported it as a one-year, $3 million deal.

Tennessee has been the only home Griffin knew after being a first-round pick in 2007. He was a two-time Pro Bowler and a second-team All-Pro in 2010 with the Titans, and he recorded 25 interceptions and seven sacks in 141 games.

With Tennessee moving in a new direction under head coach Mike Mularkey, the franchise cut Griffin, and he posted a goodbye message on Twitter:

Looking ahead to 2016, despite being 31 years old, Griffin remains a productive option in the right situations. His ability in the box showed itself in last year's Week 16 loss against the Houston Texans, according to Pro Football Focus:

Even though Griffin isn't the player he was during his peak years with the Titans, he's a versatile safety capable of playing in coverage, and he isn't afraid to move into the box so he can hit running backs with great impact to make them think twice about hitting the hole.

Depth in the secondary is an essential part of today's NFL, which runs on four- and five-receiver sets. Griffin is a steady presence who has been durablehe's missed just three games in his careerso the upside on a low-risk deal made this too good for the Vikings to pass up.
