Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
It has now been confirmed and made public by WWE that it has landed a major coup in signing Shinsuke Nakamura from New Japan Pro Wrestling, but details are now emerging as to his plans.
Unlike AJ Styles, who jumped straight into the heat of the main roster by debuting in last month's Royal Rumble match, Nakamura will spend some time on NXT.
Marc Middleton of Lords of Pain reported earlier this week that WWE want him to do a "transition period," which means working in the developmental brand before stepping up to the main roster.
He will debut in April at NXT TakeOver: Dallas when he fights top NXT star Sami Zayn. If that goes well, it'll be interesting to see how long the company waits before pulling the trigger and pushing him up to the main roster.
Braun Strowman's Upcoming Plans
There has been growing speculation that WWE could be considering pulling one of its bravest moves in years and having The Undertaker face Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 32.
That has been acknowledged by Middleton at Wrestling Inc, but it seems there are other ideas which could hopefully take this match off the table.
The thought of Undertaker wrestling what could be potentially his last WrestleMania match against a guy who has barely competed in the ring is a worrying thought, so the other options mooted in the report by Middleton make much more sense.
They involve putting Strowman in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, or even a multi-person match with Undertaker, Kane and Big Show vs. Strowman, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan.
Anything that stops Undertaker and Strowman going at it alone would be preferable, in truth.
HBK to Appear at WrestleMania 32?
WrestleMania is a time for legends to appear after plenty of time away from the TV screen, and it looks like WWE is pulling out all the stops to get a Texas native at the show.
PWInsider (h/t Lords of Pain) has flagged up that Vince McMahon tried to get Shawn Michaels to actually come out of retirement and compete in last month's Royal Rumble match.
That was rejected, but Vince and WWE still want him at WrestleMania 32 in his home state, an idea which would make plenty of sense.
Michaels appeared in Triple H's corner last year for his match against Sting, and it's not impossible that he could do the same again this year, especially if he fights someone like Roman Reigns.
Michaels could also potentially referee the match, something he's also done with a Triple H match at WrestleMania in the past.
It would undoubtedly be a huge draw for the company if it could lure Michaels into performing in some capacity, regardless of the specifics surrounding his role.
