Old Trafford legend David Beckham has recorded a personal video message to a terminally ill Manchester United fan, reported Katie Butler of the Manchester Evening News.

Nineteen-year-old Chloe Hopkins is a sufferer of cystic fibrosis and put together a bucket list after being given two years to live, which included meeting her heroes.

"Above all, I'd love to meet the United players. It's one of the best things that could ever happen to me," she said. "I never miss watching a game, and I'd love a season ticket, but because of the endless flights of stairs, I can no longer attend the matches. My life would feel complete if I met them."

And when 40-year-old Beckham heard her story, he recorded a touching tribute to a dedicated fan of his old side.

"Hi, Chloe, it's David Beckham here," he said. "I heard from Chris, my friend, that you're not very well, so I just want to send all of my best wishes and all of my love. I hope you get out of hospital soon, and I hope you feel better soon. Lots of love. Bye-bye."
