Chelsea Fans React Badly to News John Terry Won't Be Offered a New Contract

Tom WebbJan 31, 2016

Chelsea fans were left in shock on Sunday when John Terry revealed he won't be offered a new contract and will be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Captain. Leader. Leaving.

Unsurprisingly, supporters weren't happy about the news:

The club have been masters at making one horrific decision after another but they've really outdone themselves here. Disgraceful.

"

Why have the club not learned anything from letting Lampard walk out of the door? This expertise, experience and affinity cannot be bought.

Is there some sort of competition going on at Chelsea to see who can make the most ludicrous decisions?

It comes just over a week after it was revealed fellow defender Branislav Ivanovic—identified by many as one of the Blues' primary underperformers this season—had been offered a new contract:

Terry will follow in the footsteps of Chelsea legends like Frank Lampard and Petr Cech who have left the club in recent years:

"

Petr Cech
Ashley Cole
Frank Lampard
Didier Drogba
John Terry

All gone within 4 years.

Thoughts eventually turned to what the future held for Chelsea and their departing captain:

"

Fàbregas is going to be Chelsea captain, isn't he?

— Tweeds (@JoeTweedie) January 31, 2016"
"

As with the likes of Gerrard and Carragher, don't see John Terry anywhere else in England other than Chelsea. US beckons.

— Phil McNulty (@philmcnulty) January 31, 2016"

Terry, a former captain for England, has been at Chelsea since the age of 14, making over 600 appearances and winning 14 major honours.
