Djokovic started the match on fire as he dispensed of the No. 2 player in the world in 30 minutes. But the task would get tougher for the Serbian as the match went on.

Murray had a chance to take control of the second set, but he was broken after being up 40-0 at 5-5. Djokovic then closed the set out on serve.

The third set appeared to be an easy one for Djokovic to win based off the end of the second set, but Murray fought and forced a tiebreak. Murray started the tiebreak with a double fault that was followed by an ace from Djokovic. After failing to convert on two championship points, Djokovic finished the match with his seventh ace.

The win moved Djokovic into a tie with Roy Emerson at the top of the all-time Australian Open winners list. Murray's loss put him at 0-5 in the Australian Open final.
