Real Madrid Transfer News: Robert Lewandowski to Snub Rival Bids, Latest Rumours

Rory MarsdenJan 28, 2016

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is reportedly set to reject advances from a trio of Premier League clubs in order to secure a move to Real Madrid.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all eager to sign the prolific Pole, but he reportedly has his heart set on Los Blancos and will look to move to the Bernabeu in the summer if the Spanish giants can get their transfer ban lifted, per Jason Burt of the Daily Telegraph.

According to Burt, in the event Real cannot delay or overturn their ban, Lewandowski will stay at Bayern a season longer and then move to Madrid rather than take up the option of a switch to England.

The report indicates Lewandowski will cost any club that wants to buy him more than £60 million, as he is contracted until 2019.

City, United, Chelsea and Real can all afford to shell out such cash, but it seems only the Madrid outfit will be able to lure him away from the Allianz Arena.

While this is bad news for the English clubs involved, Real will be delighted with the report, as the former Borussia Dortmund man is unquestionably one of the best strikers in the world.

Per WhoScored.com, the 27-year-old has netted 17 goals in 17 Bundesliga matches this season, along with seven in six in the Champions League.

His goalscoring consistency is phenomenal, and he has been favourably compared to one of the best forwards of all time by German football pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft:

He would be a brilliant addition to the Los Blancos squad, not least because their current front three of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale looks set to be broken up in the near future, with the Portuguese being linked with United and Paris Saint-Germain, per Burt.

However, if Real fail to delay their transfer ban, then there will likely be little movement in or out of the club in the summer, per Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe and Dean Jones:

That would be a big blow for Madrid as, despite the report claiming Lewandowski would hold on another year to move to Real, it would give Chelsea, United, City and others plenty of time to persuade him to change his mind.
