The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Monday that quarterback Jameis Winston has been added to the 2016 Pro Bowl roster to replace New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who chose not to play in the game.

Winston becomes the first rookie signal-caller in the franchise's 40-year history to be named to a Pro Bowl roster. The announcement caps a season that started off shaky but ended nicely.

Winston was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2015 draft but had a less-than-favorable debut, throwing a pick-six on his first career pass in a 42-14 Week 1 loss to the Tennessee Titans. He bounced back nicely, however, finishing the season with 4,042 passing yards and 28 total touchdowns, joining only Cam Newton and Andrew Luck in the 4,000-yard rookie passing club, per the Bucs' official website.

Winston will join teammates Doug MartinLavonte David, Gerald McCoy and Logan Mankins in Hawaii for Sunday's game. According to the team, it is the first time Tampa Bay has had three offensive players in the sport's all-star game since 2000.
