Sydney Leroux, Dom Dwyer Announce They Are Expecting 1st Child
United States women's national soccer team star Sydney Leroux announced Monday she and Sporting KC striker Dom Dwyer are expecting their first child. Leroux said via Twitter she is "so excited to announce" the news, and Dwyer revealed the due date on his Instagram account:
The announcement may be bittersweet for fans of the 25-year-old Leroux, who also said her "plans have changed for this summer," meaning she will miss the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, per Micah Peters of USA Today.
Leroux is set to play in the same city as her husband after FC Kansas City on Jan. 13 acquired her for the 2016 season. Dwyer has 37 career goals in MLS, and Leroux has 35 goals for the national team. The Canadian-born American was also a member of the U19 Canadian national team in 2004.

Sporting KC took to social media to congratulate the couple:
The duo's impressive resume caused Peters to joke the birth announcement has "strengthened their bid for eventual world domination."
It certainly won't strengthen the U.S. women's team at the Olympics, but it appears both Leroux and Dwyer are just fine with that.
