UK Back Pages: Ed Woodward Convinced Louis van Gaal to Stay at Manchester United

Sean SwabyJan 25, 2016

Louis van Gaal is well aware of Manchester United's middling form, it seems.

Reports emerged on Monday night that the Dutchman actually offered to resign from his post as manager for the good of the club following Saturday's defeat to Southampton but that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward convinced him to stay on.

The Sun led the charge on the story (h/t Nick Sutton of the BBC).

The Daily Express, meanwhile, relayed word of a mutiny underneath Van Gaal. It also reported (via Sutton) Ramires is on his way out of Chelsea as the club closes in on long-rumoured target Alexandre Pato.
