Shannon Sharpe Mocks Patriots Fans Again with Epic Tweet

Vanessa de BeaumontJan 25, 2016

Same joke, similar circumstances, different era.

Twenty years after Shannon Sharpe helped the Denver Broncos take down the New England Patriots 34-8, he still relishes an opportunity to bask in the glory of victory (with perhaps a side of taunting).

Back in 1996, Sharpe notoriously feigned a call to the commander in chief to provide reinforcements for the sputtering Pats.

Although Sharpe wasn't on the field for Sunday's 20-18 AFC title game victory by the Broncos, he wasn't going to miss out on the fun.

The Hall of Famer took aim at his former opposition via Twitter by once again facetiously enlisting the help of the president on their behalf.

"I'm a concerned citizen," Sharpe tweeted. "@POTUS we need as many men as you can spare because the Broncos killed the Pats. SB 50 bound. Run tell dat."

Somehow, it's just as amusing after all this time.
