And though not to place pressure on the youngster, should he continue on this trajectory, his grandfather could make quite the profit.
Sixty-three-year-old William placed two £50 bets on his grandson playing in the Premier League and for England at odds of 1500-1, meaning he could be in for a payday of £150,000 if both materialise.
Towns, a United fan, started playing football at just 18 months and was invited to train with City's academy after he turned three years old.
His father, Adrian, said:
"He's always been football-mad. He would literally kick anything that was on the floor and even slept with a ball.
We've been a bit flabbergasted by all the interest in him. But he's obviously got something. We're not putting him under any pressure at all. As long as he's enjoying it that's all that matters.
