Luis Suarez Celebrates Birthday by Reflecting on His 29 2015-16 Barcelona Goals
Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has marked his 29th birthday by reliving some of his favourite goals for Barcelona in the 2015-16 season.
Suarez spoke with FC Barcelona's YouTube channel, where he was asked to identify the best, most celebrated and most meaningful of his 29 goals for the defending Spanish, European and world champions this term.
He scored a brace in the emphatic 4-0 Clasico win at the Bernabeu in November and identified his first—a thumping finish from a brilliant team move—as his favourite.
"The one I remember the most, the nicest I think, was the first we scored against Real Madrid," he said. "It was a really good team effort. I think the finish was first time. That's the nicest thing I remember."
He continued: "It was special, my first goal in the Bernabeu. It was a great game as well, and what it means to win there 4-0."
He reserved praise for his powerful left-footed volley against Athletic Bilbao on the opening day of the season.
"It came in the air and I hit it with my left foot," he said. "I don't think it was that easy but it was one of the ones that goes in or it goes into the stand."
Suarez identified his winner against Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League—which completed a remarkable two-minute comeback—as the one he and his team-mates celebrated the most.
"Looking at the celebration, the way I was running away, I think that was a really nice part of the goal," he said. "It was late and we were losing. I think Leo [Messi] had just got injured as well, so the feeling was a big negative and it was a good boost."
He also named Barcelona's second against River Plate in the Club World Cup in December as the most important he's scored this season, as it helped Luis Enrique's side lift their fifth trophy of the calendar year.
