Liverpool Legend Steven Gerrard Inspired Triple Olympic Medallist Kjetil Jansrud
Steven Gerrard's influence is far-reaching, it seems.
The Liverpool legend was the inspiration behind Norwegian alpine skier Kjetil Jansrud's medal haul at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, reports Matt Majendie for CNN.
Jansrud is a diehard Reds fan and received a signed shirt from the former England midfielder after winning bronze in the men's downhill event, when he was given Gerrard's iconic shirt number as a starting number.

"I remember when I was told No. 8, I was thinking that this might be my day," he said.
He explains that Gerrard congratulated him via text message through former teammate John Arne Riise.
"When I got the Olympic bronze medal he promised I'd have his jersey from the weekend. It's great as he's my favorite player, the driving force at Liverpool for so many years," Jansrud said.
To make the gift even sweeter, Gerrard scored the winner in that shirt in a 3-2 victory over Fulham.
