Javier Mascherano has been handed a one-year prison sentence over a €1.5 million case of tax fraud.
According to the BBC, the Barcelona star was in court in Catalonia on Thursday, where it was alleged that he concealed earnings from image rights via offshore companies.

However, at the time of writing, it appears unlikely that the Argentinian will step inside a prison, as his lawyers have requested he pay a fine instead.
When the former West Ham United and Liverpool's star's legal troubles were announced, the internet was quite shocked:
