Cricketer Chris Gayle Posts Extraordinary Instagram Response to His Critics

Joe GallagherJan 19, 2016

Chris Gayle, whose time in the Big Bash has been eventful, to say the least, said farewell to the tournament with an extraordinary message posted on social media.

The West Indian batsman took to Instagram to lash out at those who have criticised him in the weeks following his controversial post-wicket interview with reporter Melanie McLaughlin.

The 36-year-old, who closed out the tournament with a record-equalling 12-ball 50, called himself his "idol" and the "person who I look up to," thanked the Australian public for their support and vowed to return.

But he left a stinging criticism of the way he had been treated by the media and fellow cricketers since the incident with McLaughlin, for which he was fined $10,000 for disrespectful behaviour.

Gayle received widespread condemnation for his comments but lashed out at those who "don't have the balls" to criticise him personally.

He left the "Haters" with a sarcastic thank you and a fairly emphatic message: "Y'all can kiss my 'Black Rass'."
