Hiddink Provides Latest on Costa's Playing Status
Sunday, March 6
Blues boss Guus Hiddink said the Spain international "should be OK" to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round-of-16 second leg on Wednesday.
Chelsea Thin on Cover for Costa
The former Atletico Madrid man has suffered a turbulent 2015-16 campaign, headlined by a lengthy slump during the first half of the season. He made more headlines for his on-pitch antics than his scoring, including an incident with Arsenal's Gabriel Paulista in September, for which the Football Association gave him a three-match ban, per Sky Sports.
His form has improved since the appointment of Hiddink as interim manager in December, however, and with limited options on the bench, Costa has almost single-handedly led the Chelsea attack under the Dutchman.
Loic Remy has had some injury concerns of his own, per Metro's Ben Dinnery, and Radamel Falcao looked to be on his way back to AS Monaco until yet another injury ruined those plans, per the Sun's Wally Downes Jr.
In Costa, Hiddink has a player who scored seven goals during the first two months of 2016, and there is no better option to lead the Chelsea attack when he's fit.
