Speaking on BT Sport's Fletch and Sav on Saturday morning, ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp revealed a classic story about Emmanuel Adebayor.

The 31-year-old from Togo has been in the footballing wilderness since being released from his Spurs contract in September and has recently been linked with a return to the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

His former boss shared a brilliant story of Adebayor taking offence to the suggestion he only earned £200,000 per week.

Redknapp said the worst player at Tottenham training on a Friday would always be given a £50 fine to pay to charity, which Adebayor once failed to do.

The 68-year-old said Sebastian Bassong questioned the striker over why he hadn't coughed up despite receiving an eye-watering weekly salary of £200,000.

Adebayor's response: "Don't insult me. I earn £225[,000]."
