Maria Sharapova Shares Anecdote About Laundry Mix-Up in Australian Open Buildup

Maria Sharapova has shared a strange anecdote from her preparations for the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The Russian world No. 5 is looking to better her runner-up finish in 2015 and was—for some reason—asked about laundry mishaps on Friday, reported Reuters (h/t Daily Mail).

And rather than dismiss the query, the 28-year-old had a story prepared.

I actually just returned a pair of underwear that wasn't mine, like 45 minutes ago. Funny you ask that. It was a female pair of underwear, not male. It was leopard. I'm like, 'that's not mine'. Any more laundry situations I need to clear up before we get on with our day?

Not surprisingly, there were not.

The tournament at Melbourne Park begins on Sunday, where Sharapova will face Japan's Nao Hibino in the first round.
