KU Incident Embarrassing But Being Blown Out Of Porportion
With all the media buzzing over the recent drama at KU its hard to be a fan and watch the nation throw gas on a fire. Sure what happened between the Football, and Basketball teams was low class, and overall embarrassing for the Jayhawk Nation. Things like this shouldn't happen when these young men are representing their University, but come on lets take a deep breath, and really look at the situation. People are acting like this incident tarnishes everything KU has worked for over the last 100 plus years. In the last few days articles, and blogs have surfaced saying that KU officials should consider kicking the involved players out of school. That is downright ridiculous, overall only one injury was reported and that was a finger. If some arrest, and serious injuries occurred then I would agree even as a fan that the players involved should be removed from school but non of that happened. Taylor is a 19 year old kid who let his ego get the best of him, obviously he has some maturing yet to do. To go on facebook and post comments was dumb, and will bring up character issues when he puts his name in the NBA draft, and mostly likely cost him some money. I can't help but think if no hospital visit happened would this have just been a he said she said event among students. Reports are leaking that the grudge has been around for years and I believe it. Personally I have been around a few campus's and witnessed te same type of grudges, so for the media to freak out and say KU is Thug U is a lil unfair. In another light maybe this is what needed to happen if the fued was real and maybe now the coaches will have no tolerance for it, and no more will come of it. Self and Mangino will be on top of this because it makes them look bad. Coach Self started boot camp a few days early, and even though he didn't say why its obvious that he will not let this team who has a great shot at winning it all further damage their image by fighting. This will be the last incident you can quote me on that, but KU is not tarnished. This was a case of some egomaniac's thinking they had to go all mob style on campus to make sure they looked tuff, it was a idiotic move and maybe a game or two suspension is fair, let the coach's handle and the media just take a step back, and look elsewhere for their next school to bash. Seems like because KU is one of the top tier basketball programs the basketball team is being ridiculed way more then the football, that's evidence right there that their big dogs always need to watch their backs and actions.
