Kolo Toure Says the Salmon Tackle Was a Sign of His Dedication to Liverpool

Tom WebbJan 13, 2016

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has vowed to fight for his place under Jurgen Klopp, even if that means more salmon tackling.

That's the nickname given by team-mate Jose Enrique to describe the head-first challenge Toure made in the Reds' 1-0 win over Stoke City on Jan. 5.

Toure impressed fans with his performance in that game, and Liverpool are limited for options at the back.

"I would love to be part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans going forward," Toure told the Liverpool Echo (via Talking Baws). "That’s why I made the 'salmon tackle.' At the age of 34 playing for Liverpool, one of the best clubs in England, it’s amazing."

The Ivorian is likely to be called upon again on Wednesday night, when Liverpool face his former club Arsenal at Anfield.
