Irish Legislators to Discuss Petition to Put Conor McGregor's Face on €1 Coin
Conor McGregor's rise to global superstardom and Irish hero status could see his face featured on the €1 coin.
A petition to include McGregor's face on the currency reached The Oireachtas Public Petitions Committee on Dec. 15, with legislators set to discuss the proposal on Wednesday.
The UFC fighter's reputation went through the roof in December, when he defeated reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds.
"Our first meeting of 2016 will allow the committee [to] consider and action a further group of petitions submitted by members of the public," committee chairman Padraig MacLochlainn told the Irish Examiner (via the 42).
McGregor himself took to Twitter to provide his support for the proposal:
"Who would like 1 million of these great coins? Let's go Oireachtas! #VoteYES! pic.twitter.com/LAzzPLLDMG

Next up for the Dublin native is a fight with lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in Las Vegas on March 5, as he bids to become only the third UFC fighter to hold titles in multiple weight divisions.
