Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Marcelo Brozovic, Jackson Martinez Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenJan 11, 2016

The agent of Inter midfielder and reported Arsenal target Marcelo Brozovic has confirmed there is interest from Premier League clubs in his client, but the Croat will only move if the Nerazzurri “give the green light.”

Speaking to Calciomercato.com (h/t Football Italia), Miroslav Bicanic believes his client will cost a pretty penny:

"

Other clubs will see that too, Spanish and English. Premier League clubs know him very well, they believe he can improve a lot in the next few years.

They also know he’s not cheap though. Marcelo is happy at Inter, he’s playing well, the fans love him and everyone at the club believes in him. Milan is fantastic.

So we’ll only think of a transfer if Inter give the green light. Until then, he’s focused on Inter matches, and how to get the best possible results this season.

The 23-year-old is currently on loan from Dinamo Zagreb, but the deal includes a mandatory option to buy. And given Brozovic's hot form, there's little doubt Inter will be happy to trigger the option.

After a slow start to his career in Italy, Brozovic has made a massive leap in the 2015-16 season, showing a knack for scoring spectacular goals and holding his own in the passing game. The latest in a long line of talented Croatian attacking midfielders, he can also split out wide.

Here's a look at some of his highlights:

Already a full Croatia international, Brozovic appears to be on the verge of becoming a star, so it's easy to see why his agent is so excited about his future. His comments also indicate the player is open to a move, although it may not happen in the immediate future.

Though the Gunners are reportedly interested, a potential move would be greatly complicated by Brozovic's status as an on-loan player. Inter aren't at liberty to sell the player right now, whereas Dinamo's hands are tied due to the mandatory clause, which will see the player move to Italy on a permanent basis this summer.

On top of that, Inter have no intention of selling whatsoever. Per Football Italia, manager Roberto Mancini believes Brozovic could become “one of the best ever,” and he won't be sold even for a “great offer.”

Jackson Martinez Rumours Resurface

MADRID, SPAIN - NOVEMBER 08: Jackson Arley Martinez (R) of Atletico de Madrid competes for the ball with Pablo Perez (L) of Real Sporting de Gijon during the La Liga mathc bewteen Club Atletico de Madrid and Real Sporting de Gijon at Vicente Calderon Sta

Arsenal fans were probably hoping the constant transfer links with Jackson Martinez would end when he signed with Atletico Madrid last summer, but just a few months later, the rumours are back.

French tabloid Le 10 Sport (h/t Metro.co.uk's Tom Olver) claims the Gunners are “keeping tabs” on the Colombian, who has been a bit of a flop since moving to the Spanish capital.

The former Porto star cost Atleti £26.3 million, per Olver, and so far, he has rewarded his new club with two goals in La Liga, per WhoScored.com. Fernando Torres remains manager Diego Simeone's preferred partner of Antoine Griezmann up front, and talented youngster Luciano Dario Vietto has also made a better impact.

Martinez was constantly linked with a move to the Emirates last summer, per Anthony Chapman of the Daily Express, and whether Arsenal's interest was genuine or not, it seems manager Arsene Wenger made the right decision not to pursue the player.

The 29-year-old is a talented finisher who put up incredible numbers in the Portuguese league, but even on the international stage, he has struggled to make his mark.

At the 2014 World Cup, he couldn't even win the starting job for the Colombian national team despite the absence of Radamel Falcao, as Carlos Bacca led the line for the majority of the matches.

Martinez is a fine player who could still come good in Spain, but there's no way Arsenal will spend any money even close to what Atletico paid last summer for his services.
