2009 NFL Fantasy Weekly Rankings for PPR and Standard Leagues | Week Three

We are now two weeks into the season, and it is becoming more obvious to see which teams are contenders and which teams are pretenders in the NFL.

From a fantasy perspective, I expect players like Matt Forte and Steve Slaton to break out of their early season funks this week.

This week we have our weekly section on wounded warriors and our rankings for top position players. We have the top 16 QBs, TEs, Ks and D/STs ranked. We also have the top 30 RBs and top 40 WRs, as well.

Every week we will start off with our wounded warriors section. These are the key players that are on the injury report that you need to pay attention to before games begin.

Wounded Warriors

Marion Barber vs. Panthers

On Tuesday there were rumors that Barber would miss this week and next week, due to a quad injury. However, on Wednesday Barber was seen working out at practice and giving people the thumbs up sign.

At this point, Barber is still questionable, but if he continues to progress this week in practice, he may play on Monday night.

Wes Welker vs. Falcons

Welker missed last week's game against the Jets due to a knee injury. This week it looks like Welker will be a go against the Falcons. This comes as a bit of a surprise as Welker did not practice on Wednesday.

Since fantasy owners cannot trust the Patriots and their secretive ways with injuries, I would monitor this situation until kickoff.

Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook vs. Chiefs

Now, it is expected that Kevin Kolb will receive his second career start. McNabb is still not fully back from his rib injury and this is a game the Eagles should win without him.

Brian Westbrook will probably be a game-time decision as he reaggravated the same ankle on which he had surgery in the offseason.

Frank Gore at Vikings

Gore injured his ankle towards the end of his great game against the Seahawks. So far, this week Gore says his ankle feels fine and he will be a go for this weekend.
