The second was equally compelling as Trump reversed the situation—after finding himself 65-0 down, a superb comeback of his own levelled the scores at 1-1.

From there the 26-year-old—who is yet to add the Masters to his impressive array of titles—built up a real head of steam to win a further three consecutive frames, including a ton and this particularly tight encounter, per World Snooker:

Meanwhile, his opponent had other issues to contend with:

Maguire remained focused and resilient, though, and impressively pulled back a frame without Trump getting on the board before moving to within one thanks to a strong 74.

BBC Snooker highlighted the turnaround in the match:

The Scot finally cleared a century as he drew level in style at 4-4, with Trump once again failing to register a score.

The Englishman was able to arrest the slide with this exceptional effort, though:

From there, Trump was able to see out the entertaining win in a fairly comfortable final frame, and he will face either Neil Robertson or Marco Fu in the next round. Trump admitted it was a difficult match, per World Snooker:

In the evening match, a century for Hawkins saw him take a 1-0 lead, and he quickly doubled his advantage thanks in part to this exquisite shot to sink the pink:

Hawkins repeated his effort on the same ball in the fourth frame but was unable to stop Perry from firmly coming back into the match, after he kept Hawkins off the board in the third:

The 36-year-old then showed some loose play in the fifth to help Perry edge in front for the first time with an impressive 84 break:

Hawkins roared back, though, and pulled level at 3-3 before taking the lead once again with an 81:

From there, he proceeded to comfortably take two successive sets—four in a row in totaland the match overall.

He faces a tough task in the quarter-finals against Allen following his triumph over defending champion Shaun Murphy on Sunday.
